From: "david ellis" To: Rick Sheppe Cc: "Rick Hanson" Subject: Revisiting a 2007 Region 1 Competition at Sugarbush Date: Sun, 21 Jan 2007 15:39:25 -0500 Hello Rick, At the Sugarbush Soaring BOD meeting last week I raised, again, the possibility of holding a Region 1 competition at Sugarbush. After some heated pro and con discussion, our august group came up with $3000 as the lost commercial business due to a contest. Therefore we agreed that if another club wishes to hold a contest at Sugarbush, we would need a check for that amount. The visiting club would run the entire show, including finances. Sugarbush would provide tows at member rates (check the SSA rate sheet). $3000 seems like a lot of money at first glance. However, the per-entrant fee is exorbitant ($150 for a 20-pilot contest, $100 for a 30-pilot contest). This is the best I could do. Rick Hanson is also OK with the concept from his safety-oriented point of view. I sincerely hope we’ll see an enthusiastic group of Region 1 Competitors at Sugarbush this year. Regards, Dave Ellis
